April 2010 Newsletter
I would like to start this letter off by letting everyone know that we have celebrated our 2nd Anniversary and with that there have been over 500 dogs and puppies given a new life Thanks to all of you!! Please never forget the difference you have made to the dog/dogs in your life!
Well Happy Spring to everyone!! I feel as if we've been waiting for this forever, our personal dogs have been literally dancing after this ever so long winter. Hopefully everyone has noticed our new website after all the trouble we had for a long time. It is still being worked on and one of the things we are hoping to do is expand the picture gallery, so when you get wonderful pictures of your guys frolicking among the flowers or just playing in the yard, please send them to us so we can share them.
As we start to prepare for the spring just some reminders for the yard, I have just received another warning on mulch, there is now a new mulch being manufactured by Hershey, needless to say it smells like chocolate. Please be sure not to put licorice mulch or this new mulch anywhere that your dogs can get at it, it is very appealing and very lethal. As the weather warms up please remember to always have water available and be aware of how hot cement and black top gets, paw pads can definitely get burned.

I would like to share with everyone a few wonderful Pitti stories:
Ripple - a very delicious little red-nose pitti boy. His original family found out shortly after he came to them that they would not be able to keep him as their landlord would not allow a pitbull. This little boy is beyond cute, affectionate and smart, but will be spend his life labeled as a "Pit Bull". Unfortunately the stigma although untrue is a weight this little boy is forced to live with. The good part of this story is that Ripple aka Brody is now with a new Mom and Dad, Ashley and Patrick. Watching the 2 of them meet this little boy, gave true meaning as to why we do this! I have no doubt that Brody will be a well loved member of this family and I know they will help in our ever continuing quest to teach others about this wonderful breed!
My second exciting pitti story is about Louise, many of you are already familiar with this amazing girl. She is the Mom, found chained in a field, starved, with 11 flea infested puppies. Sadly all but one of the puppies were lost even with blood transfusions and extensive medical care. Through this entire ordeal Louise continued to be an amazing mom and an affectionate loving girl. She has been in foster care with Anet for 5 months now, has gone through heartworm treatment and just this week has been spayed. Her weight is wonderful, maybe even a tiny bit chubby, and she will be going to a wonderful new family this weekend. She will have lots of love and two children to play with.............HOORAY for Louise, even though we are all going to miss her.
We continue to look for donations, we can always use used/new collars, leashes, bowls, crates and x-pens. As a small 501c3 we are also able to be a part of a recycling program. We receive a stipend for all printer cartridges, old cell phones, lap tops and game boys, so if you want to be a part of the greening efforts going on and help the pups let us know.
I want to take the time to thank our wonderful volunteers and foster families, without their continuing help we would not be able to function. If anyone would like to join us we welcome you with open arms, as always we may not be able to change the world but we certainly have changed the world for at least 500 lives in the last 2 years! We also want to thank those who continue to give assistance through financial donations, without this we would not be able to offer the medical care that is frequently needed by those coming our way.
