Adoption Information
How To Adopt: : If you are interested in one of our dogs, fill out our on-line application and send it to us. Make sure it is entirely filled out. We try to review the applications as quickly as possible. We attempt to return calls as fast as we can but please remember we are an all volunteer organization and sometimes have a high volume of calls to respond to.
References: The most important part of the application is the reference section. If you currently have a veterinarian, please make sure you fill out the name of the office, the telephone number of the office and the hours the office is open. If you haven’t seen the veterinarian in two years, they may not have records, so please provide us with a personal and work reference instead. Some offices request the patients permission to release information to us, so please check on this ahead of time and tell your vets office that you authorize them to release information to Wet Nose Rescue.
Personal and Work References: If you have no current vet, we need a personal and work reference. The personal reference cannot be a family member. Make sure to fill out the phone numbers and best times to contact. This will speed the review process.
Adoption Costs: Dogs over the age of 6 months: $100.00 donation, along with $50.00 deposit for spay/neuter, upon completion with a vet certificate, the deposit will be returned unless you wish to donate it to Wet Nose Rescue.
Puppies under 6 months of age: $125.00 donation along with $50.00 deposit for spay/neuter, upon completion, with a vet certificate, the deposit will be returned to you unless you wish to donate it to Wet Nose Rescue. At the time of adoption $175 would be due and can be paid by either cash or personal check.
Any dog/puppy already spay/neutered prior to adoption would require a 150.00 adoption donation, proof will be provided to the adopting family.
What To Expect: After you submit your application we will review it as quickly as possible. The applications are reviewed as they are received and we will respond as soon as we can. Many times we receive numerous applications at one time so please be patient.
Surrendering a dog: Any dog adopted from Wet Nose Rescue that for any reason cant be kept by its owner must be returned to Wet Nose Rescue and will be put in a foster home. This is a part of the contract a person adopting from Wet Nose Rescue signs when adopting. If someone must surrender a dog that is not a Wet Nose Rescue dog, we will try and help, however we do not have a shelter. If we are sent e-mail photos of the dog along with a full explanation of the situation and reason for surrendering the dog we can post the pictures on Pet Finder to try an assist in finding a home for the dog.
Wet Nose Rescue is not a shelter, we are a rescue organization and help shelters that are in trouble. As a rescue organization we do not have a physical shelter, we use foster homes for some of our dogs. We help shelters that are in trouble and over crowded by trying to find homes for the dogs.
